SE Nebraska | The factories were either closed or moved to a different province. My brother in law sells pvc pipe in Beijing. The factory that makes it is shut down for the Olympics. He does not work now. 10% of the people of Beijing worked at the steel factory. It was moved to another province because of air quality aroun Beijing. The polluting factories are under government order to cut there emmissions, shut down or move. City traffic is under an odd even system according to the plates on there cars. Even can drive one day and odd the next.
That is just a drop in the bucket of what they have been doing in Beijing to clean up for the Olympics. I keep telling my wife I will be glad when the olympics are over so everything can get back to normal again. Unless you have actually been to China, which I have, you probably will not understand. | |
