That is the level the per ton price was set at. Above that you got more money, below, less money. Now, my still grape growing friends say, they will not accept a load AT ALL, if it is below 16 brix. I think they are still getting around $180 a ton these days. Sad, because that is what we got in the 1970's. Yields were 4-6 tons per acre. Back then you could buy a new diesel vineyard tractor for under $5K. We all know what they cost these days. | |
