Subject: RE: cow herd questions

central Kentucky
We have had really good luck with Angus Hereford crosses, or black white face as we call them. They make very good cows, most of our commercial cows are about 1100 lbs. and breed very consistently. I also have a Registered Polled Hereford herd and have the big cow problem. I have been choosing smaller frame bulls and am slowly getting my mature cow size down. I wish my polled herefords were as easy to take care of as the bwf's. It seems like any purebred animal has a lot more trouble than a cross. We are fescue pasture, but we try to keep some red clover interseeded.
