West Union, IOWA FLOLO Farm 52175 | I have a guy hoping we can make some CRP hay(we're in an emergency area just in case the nation wide program doesn't go thru) he want's to know what it'd be worth if we get it put up decent. We through some ballpark figures at it and figured a cost of close to $50 a bale breakeven(allowing some for "rent" or payment for the standing grass).
My biggest question would be what would it be worth as feeder hay? I'm guessing we'd be looking at over 500 bales total.
Quality grass hay I made last week I expected should bring $100-120 per bale(same size) infield for refernce.TIA--loran
