Depends on how much damage the hail did. If it broke a lot of the stems close to the ground it could really hurt yield. If it just knocked leaves off with only minor stem damage then it could even improve yield sometimes. Perhaps fungicide would help, but the main thing is wait a few days and see what happens anyway. I assume he's already contacted his crop insurance agent.
