Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | How about RR ties? Only wood posts used around here. I've pulled many up that were put in before 1963 that were in great condition. Used them as line posts in new holes. I'd rather use welded steel H braces with steel T post in between for complete durability, but RR ties are the most common by far for ends and corners here. I put one every fourth post if I'm not worried about fire, but on the range it is nothing but steel T posts and rock jacks for corners. They don't burn that way.
Biggest drawback to wood post, they do burn. Probably be a lot more fenced fields around here, but it is common to burn stubble and that has eliminated most fences. | |
