That's the way most guys do it now. Back in the 80's when my boss did it they had a peice of pipe with a point and holes in the end that you shoved in the bale and then opened a valve for so many seconds or something. I don't think you get good enough coverage with that method, though. One other thing that's being done, is to take the Syrup from the ethanol plants and drench straw or cornstalk bales with it. Works pretty good. As far as gains, this is my first group on this ration. If you are interested I could e-mail you a batch sheet.
