| Here's what I did.
Cash crop share. I do all the machinery work, they pay half the fertilizer bill. I pay them based on the local auction price, the week it's cut. We agree on type/class of hay and I cut them a check each cutting.
The first cutting was based on $159/ton price, and ended up costing me $95.31/ton in my barn when we added up all the costs.
Pretty cheap hay for this year. Gives me options, I can sell some of it and make a decent profit and still have cheap hay for the cows.
