Subject: RE: How do I prevent this???

central - east central Minnesota -
Plugging up knives with corn stalks dragging - keeping trench open? If so, see if I can explain what I seen a neighbor putting on his white planter fertilzer colter \ knife. He had a blade running in front of the knife (just missing blade), knife would drag bean and corn residue along makeing a trench (bad for the following corn row). To solve the problem, white makes a "star" shaped plate with a "finger" attached to one of the points. This bolts on to the outer side of the blade and as the blade turns, the finger (sticking out past the blade edge) turning clock wise and scrapes the residue off the knife. Clear as mud ? It works. . . .
