http://www.targetseed.com/varieties/pdf_files/tiffany_management_gu... is a good read on management. We put in a test plot last year(1/4 ac of Target's coated seed, 1/4 ac of uncoated seed). I would not use Target's coated seed, too expensive and did not yield quite as good as uncoated seed. I used an air spreader and put on 60 units/ac of N at the same time as the seed. Too much N, it lodged and now you have no choice but to cut it short(bad for regrowth). Also leaving a windrow in one place as long as you can with alfalfa will hurt it. Herbicides registered for millet are your only choice for weed control.
Cheap lessons with only 1/2 acre. The most important thing was that we could not find a market that would make it more attractive to grow than alfalfa.
