Subject: RE: We mowed 350 acres in 10 hours)

Dalton, OH
We ran a Miller Pro 30 ft merger and at times a 4 rotor-45 ft Krone Rake. We were merging 70 feet with the merger and it worked really well. The haylage ran around 3 ton per acre and the chopper ran 8 mph in the 70 ft rows! Very impressive!! We were hauling it between 8 and 25 miles one way, so the chopper sat some, but if we were close to the bunker we could catch the merger quickly. The owner told me the next farm they chopped the merger had 70 acres ahead of them when they started and they caught up with it in no time. Ideally, you should probably have two of the 30-ft mergers to keep ahead of the chopper. We only chop our 1st cutting alfalfa, about 650 acres, every year and sell it to a neighbor. The rest we bale. When I get time and relearn how to load pictures, I'll try to post some of the process.
