Devils Lake, ND
I'm in SWND. We did a replicated trial in durum on durum in 2004. Three ounces of Headline with the herbicide. I don't remember what they yield difference was, but on a 25 bu. average, the grower broke even. You can assume on any yield above that, the fungicide pays.

When doing a herbicide-timed app., don't worry about which product to use. You'll have a hard time finding a difference between products. That said, we sell mostly Tilt, and roughly 60% of our wheat on wheat gets 2 oz. with the herbicide. No first year wheat gets an early fungicide.

Flag leaf and head applications are a lot tougher call. In HRWW, of we have 45 bu. potential at flag leaf emergence, we spray. It used to be 6 oz. of Headline, 10 to 14 oz. of Quilt, or 4 oz. of Tilt. This year, it will all be Tilt because of the cost. Late-spraying durum and HRS is tougher yet. Make your own call on that.
