Why would the large operator have higher costs than the small guy. Unless the farm is huge, there are many efficiencies to be gained by being large. I believe it does reach a point though where the inefficiencies start creeping in. However, I know of many large farms that run a very tight ship, are well managed and run a very low cost operation.
