![](http://www.carlhobbsag.com/agtag1_CHAgsSm.JPG) Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!) | We're full swing, so I guess it'll start raining now... Elevators have widened basis to July less $4, OUCH! Furthermore, they are really hitting hard on moisture, "4 for 1" from the weight, rounded to the next whole point. One grower said they docked him 4% for 13.7% moisture, DOUBLE OUCH! Yields and test weights are good, though. The average field, so far, is averaging mid 70's, but haven't heard of anything below 63, and that was some "dryland". The highest field so far has been about 86 bushels. One grower told me he picked the first 18 acres of a 67 acre field yesterday, loaded two semis, and the yield monitor so far is 107 bushels (variety P26R61) per acre, WOW. The only test weight numbers I have heard have been 61 to 63. Most of this crop is contracted, usually about 50 bushels per acre, anywhere from $4.50 to about $7.00 AGS2000 is the most widely planted variety down here, and it looks very strong. However, Pioneer 26R61 may be about to upset it for top spot, at least down here. |
