I generally don't worry if you see a few beans lying on top as long as your into some moisture. Planting deep here will guarantee many anxious days of wondering and worry about getting them out of the ground. Usually get some sort of plastering rain right after things are planted. Everyone says you can't plant corn too deep but I disagree. Looking at replanting corn again it's been 3 of the last 4 years because of cool and wet conditions right after planting where cool imbibing saps the seed. Whenever someone wants advice I tell them do the opposite of what I'm doing and maybe one of us will be right. Just be glad your Dad is still here to be mad at you. Don't always rush to discount those years of experience either someday they will be sorely missed. (talking from experience here)
