| Last year a neighbor's son was planting beans for him as he had some business to deal with. His son called me and asked me to help set the planter depth. I stopped in the field and he was planting beans 2+ inches deep when there was moisture 1" deep, so I told him I would adjust it shallower. He did so and planted 160 acres. Then the hot wind blew...and blew... and blew. Dryed the ground out faster than I've ever seen. The only beans that came up worth a crap were the ones in 2+" deep. Didnt rain for three weeks. Field turned out yielding decent, but I felt horrible. Never again will I give advice like that . It was the right advice on any other day. | |
