North End I-15 | one year when my air drill was newer , the run monitors never worked very well. I had a pluged tower on the seed runs . I wound up reseeding 110 acres in a 8' strip . Had to swathe the crop diagonally to blend the green with the ripe. Couldn't find a 8' drill to seed with , Finally got one off a neighbors gang of drills. I had lots of acres with dumb stripes all summer . Never noticed it till it near the end. Had to wait for the crop to come up to know where to re seed . Every one got a good laugh over that . Now we check all openers every fill . Don't seed when it is 80% humidity early in the AM (rarely) . Moist air makes concrete when blended with powdery fertilizer , then it sets it flakes off and plugs openers . And most importantly , have learned to laugh , what else can you do ? :>)
Best stand of Canola ever was where I spilled seed filling drill. Same with camelina /alfalfa mixture. | |
