Our Martin's have covered about a hundred acres a row seven and eight seasons now and we'd only replaced three bearings up until this year. Since two bearings went out last year we put all new bearings in them this year and about a third of them have gone out already. We have yet to find a situation where we aren't happy with two Martins per row and the drag chain.
