Subject: row unit shut offs

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Marc, You are right. I recall this customer telling me they tripped on and off two at a time with his JD system. The boxes at the bottom of the display represented two row units not just one. Therefore my "every square ft" comment was probably not exact.

However it was still impressive to be able to plant at an angle and every time you cross a headland, fence pass row the row units just shutoff based on your map!

The electronics is coming along however. I can't believe the number of times I have been leaning on a strip till machine or planter while a couple of usually younger guys are hunched over computers in the tractor cab rebooting software or something like that...it does seem to be getting better.

The challenge may still be getting all of these different systems: mapping, variable rate, shutoffs, RTK guidance etc to all talk to each other in the same language.

Regards,

Jim at Dawn
