It might be a waste of money but I don't know that I would call it a big waste of money unless you have a lot of spraying to do by hand.
At a quart per fill I would only use about 1 gal of generic gly / yr through a hand sprayer. Waste of money possibly but not big, at least not by my definition of big.
Depends a lot on if the operator soaks the weeds or puts a drop on them.
