Subject: Pics- Corn in heavy cover of rye

Statesville, NC
Here is some corn I planted in rye that was about 4 ft. tall. I rolled it down with a cover crop roller I built by the design of the Rodale Institute. http://www.rodaleinstitute.org/introducing_a_cover_crop_roller So far it seems to have worked well, but the stand is not quite as good as I would like. I wanted to try it to hold moisture in, and may need that this year. Corn was planted around April 26th and has seen very little rain since. Probably less than 1 1/2 inches.
