SWMO | Since this was a border around a field, it amounted to about 10 acres out of 160. The rest of the field was conventional and where tractor turned around on border, some was flattened but openers cut thru mat quite easily. But yes...........if I had rolled first, same direction would be a must. For visual appeal, cover was rolled flat later.
As I understand it, tritacale is a cross betwen rye and wheat. I have always heard toxicity concerns but have not had it to be a problem. The benefit of a drier soil when planting and mulch later in season seems to offset toxicity yield loss. Keep in mind that this is a 75 to 150 bu area. | |
