I agree with other posters that suggest weevil.

However, "here" I disagree about cutting without spraying. For me, spraying if I have weevil will pay at any point. If you need to cut immediately, use a 0 day harvest spray such as Mustang. If your harvest is a week or two out, something cheaper such as Lorsban will do nicely.

But then, I'm on pivots. I can set up an injector and have the field chemigated by nightfall w/out any sprayer tracks in the hay, or with little additional expense above chemical costs.

If you cut with weevil, where your windrow is will show definate damage--all the way through the next crop.
