Subject: growing degree days

southern MN
Heard on the public TV weather channel just now, we average 18 growing degree days by today for the year here in southern MN.

This year we have totaled: One.

Supposed to be 39 for a low this evening.

One gal on my sand volleyball team is still wearing gloves to play - this is our 5th week of play.

Supposed to warm up this weekend. Need it.

I see a little bit of corn emerged on the sand dunes south of Sleepy Eye - under the pivots. Otherwise most are still planting corn, or about finished just now, with most all corn going in the ground the past 3-4 days. Lot of beans and some corn left to hit the dirt.
