For wheat stubble, the marestail are much larger (it's later in the season), plus they are stressed from competing with the wheat, etc. It takes *much* higher rates of 2,4-D to kill them. Even 1.5 lbs/a of 2,4-D often just knots them up but doesn't kill them.
A bit of crop oil is often a good thing with glyphosate anyway.
