Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!) | According to some UGA numbers I took down at a production meeting, they stated the following as a baseline:
> Wheat, 60 bu, removes, 33 of P and 20 lb of K
> Wheat Straw, 1.5 Ton, removes 8 lb of P and 108 lb of K
That 108 lb of K equals 180 lbs of 0-0-60; at $600 / ton, that's $54 an acre.... How much more than that is the straw worth? That doesn't include the advantages you get from the organic matter and the mulch, either.... Leave it in the field!
