Lancaster, OH | Sounds like a genetics cost situation. I believe that they should knock off the "tech fee" on replant and provide the seed back at 50% of the price on corn (you actually are getting 50% off genetics, 100% off tech fee, and another 50% of the tech fee the way it is calculated). On soybeans, they have a set replant price/unit. Last year it was something like $20/unit.
If you bought with the expectation of 100% free replant, that was the wrong expectation. They haven't done that as a replant policy since 1998 although with some of the corn, it would get down very cheap but there was always a cost. | |
