Subject: RE: Raining AGAIN in S MN - MN strip till

Driftless SW Wisconsin

The only word I can think of is "Wow!"

Looks good. Thanks for the pictures. Ont the first video, are the strips you are making being made over fall strips or just next to the fall strips in the background? Or are those fall strips in the background?

Continuous strip tilled corn DOES get easier if you can stick with it. There is both a learning curve AND some biological/agrinomic curves too.

A veteran continuous corn customer explained a biological point to me: when you have first year corn residue there are a whole bunch of corn eating microboes etc that like to eat corn residue (and turn it into fertilizer) that flourish. IF you switch crops they come up the next year looking for corn and finding something else, decline. while if the corn loving microbes find more corn they flourish even more turning more corn residue into fertilizer.

I've seen fields in a continuous corn strip till system where I swear someone came in and baled the residue between the rows sometime between planting and the end of July or so...

I ran into some spotty but heavy rains in the Austin area and east.

Thanks again.
