Kentucky | Just curious -- what yield goal you shooting for? I would think that might affect your comparison with 7.5 inch rows. For example, a 60 bushel goal should not separate the row width comparison like a 90 bushel goal. In my neck of the woods we want 600-750 heads per square yard for optimum yields. It would be interesting to see where your heads counts are before you take it to yield.
I do know of one farm with 15" wheat here -- sort of. He planted with his Kinze on 15" and then went back over the field to split the 15's to make 7.5's. Only problem was that the driver couldn't always tell when he was splitting the middle so the field has varying row widths from 7.5 to 15 all over. Looks pretty strange, but we have had a good enough season that it still looks decent. | |
