Dad & I have been doing this for many years. Here is what I see as key points.
1) On 60" centers you don't have to worry about sealing the wheel tracks/
2)very low horsepower requirements/fewer knives to buy. You would only have a six knife rig.
3) if you get offcenter you may see one row get to the N faster leaving one side yellow, but the other row will get to the N a couple days later and you will find no difference.
4) As far a nozzles plugging, that i why I get off my easy chair and check at each tank fill. Also run a slight amount for visual. Plugging is a rare problem for me. The "mole" Knives are hard to plug
5) A lot less hose(1/2) to repair/replace even though hose is cheap
6) 1/2 the knives pulling up rocks, plug with residue, etc...
I know Curt Keiser of this forum uses 60" centers as well, and he may chime in with his input. We have been doing this since 84. | |
