NE MO & W IL | I have farms in St. Charles, Lincohn, and Marion Co., 0% planted of either crop, corn or beans. Usually half done with beans by now. I've been lucky enough to get the ground prepared in between rains, just finished the Marion Co. farm this weekend before the Sat. evening rain. Hopefully, we all can role by the end of this week assuming Tuesday night's rain isn't very much.
I also travel around the state as an agronomist for a seed company. Not much corn in at all across the state, maybe 5-10%, and that's pushing it. As I drove through Audrain and southern Monroe Co. last Tuesday, there were several trying to run. They were literally mudding it in. The planters were making serious ruts as they went through low spots, terraces, seeps, etc.
My biggest concern is that most of Missouri's corn will be planted end of May, first of June and pollinating end of July, first of August. That spells disaster if we have a typical summer! Good luck to all. | |
