I don't think you can draw a straight coorelation between rainfast and killing power and a tillage operation after spraying.
The AI needs to be translocated through the plant. 36 hrs is enough for that to occur based on what I've witnessed. I will grant you that I've never tried less than that time frame, so who knows?
