The ag electronics industry produces expensive equipment that does not have good enough power supplies to work in real world ag equipment, and I have went to what I consider ridiculous extremes to get clean power to the gps and monitor. I set up two small fuse blocks. Each has both positive and negative wires to the battery. Equipment that does not produce spikes is connected to always on the "clean" one. Things like valve drivers, relays, fans, etc, get powered from the other "dirty" one. The "dirty" one has a relay to turn it off with the key. The GPS and monitor are powered by a switched regulated power supply that is connected to the "clean" fuse block. I use a 2 amp isolated power supply from http://www.davidnavone.com/ This supplies 13.1 volts even if the battery voltage drops to 9 volts or goes as high as 16 volts. It has taken me many years and a lot of aggravation to get to this, but it works.
