You may wish to fit drag chains also, they help level the row and allow more uniform soil drying. A correctly leveled and maintained closing wheel arm will allow most producers to close the slot, even in conditions wetter than they need to be planting within (see photo below!).

Notice the removal of the Kinze 3000 series down-pressure spring and adjustment arm. In higher moisture conditons, I have frequently found the factory Kinze 3000 series closing system has too much down force (even in the float position), so removing these will allow the closing wheel arm to run level - which provides much better closing action - even within soil conditions you don't need to be planting for a few dry days !
