![](/profile/get-photo.asp?memberid=45&type=profile&rnd=671) Kansas | I got to ask this question as my cargill guy is lost.
I asked him yesterday for his formula for figuring how much sorghum seed I'd need to plant. He told me use the 3 lbs per acre. Well, Ok, so I can figure out how many seeds there are per lb but here's where it gets confusing.
Being moisture is a major factor and I plant seed spacing accordingly to what I feel the oncoming year will bring, Isn't there some sort of formula for figuring how many seeds it will take to plant an acre if they are say "X" inches apart on 30 inch rows?
Then figure the lbs per acre to be able to figure the sacks needed.
Using a weight isn't exactly a science when you get into the severe differences in seed size between some varieties. | |
