Subject: Rotary phase convertors

Parsons Kansas
Where my shop is located I don't have access to 3-phase power. I have a Bridgeport milling machine that is supposed to run on 3-phase. I took the motor off and took it to a guy and he put a capacitor and timer in it to make it run off of single phase 220. I have been using the machine but I'm not happy with it.
I have read about rotary convertors but still don't understand them very well. What I'm wanting is a convertor that will allow me to run this machine and not lose any power and the motor needs to be able to be revearsed very quickly like when tapping a hole then backing the tap back out. The motor tag on the Bridgeport reads this:
2 HP
3 PH 50 cycles
220 =6.0amps
230 =5.6 amps
440 =3.0 amps
CONT RATING 40 CAMB
I would like to be able to buy 1 convertor to run this machine and be able to run future equipment on my want list. An ironworker 5 to 7 1/2 Hp and a metal lathe with maybe up to 15 Hp and a horzonal mill with 15 Hp also. I don't need to run all these machines at one time just need to run one at a time. Is there a convertor that will do this? Thank you Darren
