We used to raise some seed beans for a genetics company and in talking to one of the field guy's one day he told me that in their own plots they ran an older Axial Flow combine and that every one of their growers used a rotary combine (couldn't get a contract without one).  I don't think they cared what color combine the customers used but it did have to be a rotary.
