I concur with Rodney R that the Hendrickson is far superior off road, and far inferior on road. I also concur with dave morgan that a tractor trailer is a batter answer. Yeah, I know you said it won't work, but I've heard that before and it seems like next thing you know the guys who said it all had short trailer semis. Eventually they figure out that you need to be able to bridge a load, someday.
