I used JB weld on the evaporator lines of a dodge minvan several years ago. The rear air lines ran underneath the van and the road salt got to them. I JB welded the infected area and it worked at minimal cost to me. In your case it would have been worth a try to get a few more years of life out of the unit. Just a tightwad idea. Take it for what its worth.
