Our govt signed the death warrant for treated wood posts when they banned whatever it was that preserves wood underground. Therefore I would avoid using wood on, in, or near dirt unless I didn’t mind replacing it in about 20 years if it lasts that long. Plastic, steel, concrete, anything is better than wood when it is in contact with dirt.
