Somerville, Indiana | I remember reading literature about the 8000 series 4WD Deere, but that's all that I can remember about them. I remember the Detroits were engine of choice with farmers experimenting with trucks trying to build their own 4X4s. There were several that were running along the Ohio River valley in the mid 60s. Some were 5010s and 20s repowered with 318s as they were shorter. The Detroit 2 cycles sure enjoyed a long production run. Butch and Billy, local Detroit shop in Henderson, still speciallize in these engines. They are harder to get set right than I realized. Probably because of lack of training? | |
