| We have found that calving earler helps with scours because the ground is frozen longer before it gets wet here. But another thing that we have found that helps with the scours is the probiotic paste. It was about 15 years ago there was a big push to use the probiotic pills so we tried them and had good luck with them. We switched to the paste because you don't have to wait for the pills to disolve and it is easier on the calf. We have found that giving the probiotic to the calves they eat hay sooner then without the paste, about 2 to 3 weeks sooner. The paste starts their bugs in the stomach sooner. Haven't had to doctor for scours for years now. We also give the scourguard shot. | |
