Subject: Sent cows to U.S

Souris, Manitoba, Canada
Just sent nine 4 to 5 year old cows that were not bred to (buyer)Quantaine in Brandon. Very good shape Angus .They are age verified and rfid tagged and had to be born before March 1999. They were put in export pen to head to U.S. I received $100 more/cow, about 48cents per pound on 1700 pound cow.

The reason I was told is that the packers out in alberta (Cargill) American owned was getting cheap cows for a long time. Now that the over 30 months are allowed to U.S the Cargills are not getting those cows they used too. I heard the Packers here are only running at 50% capacity cause they are not making money. The U.S want the packers want the cows so they pay a bit more.

The cattle industry is very hard to undersatand ...for anyone especially me!
Many factors, political, policy and Profit

Anyhow have a good calving season!!
