Southwest Missouri | No, not really. However, I will be ready to cut hay two months from now. I try to be ready the first of May. That is before the fescue heads out. I try to cut when there are no stems at all. I would probably get 1/3 more hay if I waited a month, but the quality would be down.
I like to feed good hay to our cows. Good hay is also easier to sell. But, here, too many people like to buy a "bale". The size, quality, stored inside or out, really does not matter. People see a published price for a "bale" and that is all they want to pay. | |
