Missouri | Got to make that decision yourself. Lots of varriables, if you don't own the land I would be slow putting lots of money, time and effort into a quality cow herd. High grain prices are rewriting the book right now. Impossible to assess the impact. Major adjustments in livestock are taking place. Cellulose ethonal will have further impact on forage and land use as it develops. The freight train has lots of speed that is comming down the track. If it was not for a good kill cow market right now cows would be really cheap. Foodstuff is short and expensive, fertilizer is like gold, weather has been terrible, pasture rents up, hayground renting for same as rowcrop and lots already plowed around here. It will take two years to shakeout what we know right now. This thing is really rockin, we will know more in 30-60 days than we know today. Major adjustments to the industry are on the horizon, it is only a quess to how they will shake out, but several could really impact the beef industry as we know it today. | |
