Missouri
If we opt for the skinning method it is company policy to give the calf some nuflor before it gets sick. Have found the hide tied to the orphan makes it really hot ,and next thing is it is sick. Works good in some cases, otherwise just takes time. Sometimes more than others, think I have had moma and calf in chute twice a day for two weeks before they married. We try to keep some grama cows around just to have bottle calves ,fresh and available when needed. Very nice to give one to a young cow and move the older on in July. Accidents happen around here. Bottom line is the additude of mother. If bad additude in the least we don't attempt.
