Oklahoma | Currently have a Bramco bumper spikes. The main reason we went that route was the way we handled hay. At the time we hauled it in on trailer and stacked with a loader or pickup in a line (flat side of the bale up against the flat side of the next bale) and in the last year went to a GN self dumping trailer that pretty much leaves them in a line (for the most part). We have always thought that stacking where the ends were open allowed more moisture in and thus wasted more hay? Also had a distant neighbor that swore by the Deweze but stacked all their hay in the barn and during the winter roaded a tractor around in front of the truck to get the hay out for the bed to pickup. Kind of seemed self defeating to us.
For those that are using the bale "squeeze" type system, do you stack your hay different to be able to use the bed more efficiently? Does the system waste much hay? | |
