Subject: RE: Put the cows back to work yesterday

Eastern Kansas
I've done this before but with the cost of rye seed and fertilizer I didn't do it this last year, spent same money and bought feed. Wondered what your cost / acre is and your cost /cow /grazing day? Maybe I should have sharpened my pencil more as I am tired of feeding hay with still over a month to go here in eastern Ks. Thought my cost at the time would be about $85 / acre or so, but wasn't planning on baling any, just grazing out, and then burn down cost. Seems like we're too busy in the spring to think about mowing and baling hay so it doesn't get done.
