"making the ethanol for free"---what in the world are you talking about??
you get 18 pounds of ddg's out of a bushel of corn....at $160/ton (8 cents per pound), you generate $1.44 per bushel of corn processed.....if paying $4.94 per bushel of corn, you still have a corn cost of $3.50 per bushel in the ethanol, plus all of the processing costs....
