I have to ask though, how does that other brace wire from the top of the corner post down to the bottom of the brace post help keep that corner post from heaving? There is absolutely no tension that way and actually, if a post heaved, I'd think that wire would get loose.
I always thought the purpose of the wire from bottom of corner to top of brace post was to do just that, hold the bracing in between the two posts tight, which ultimately stops the upheaving of the main corner.
Did you possibly change the height that your horizontal brace was placed in there?
I have seen other guys make that "X" wire in there. I never understood the reason for it. From my thinking I can't see how it benefits. Apparently it must as it works for you. How though? | |
